Concerts and festivals

Our crew flew drones inside Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle to film Paramore's 2023 show, and Asheville concerts, festivals and brewery events are planned the same way, with the venue's approval and inside the production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Weddings, Biltmore and the Parkway

Mountain weddings and private events are flown from approved private property. Biltmore Estate prohibits drones and aerial photography without its written consent, and the National Park Service bans launching or flying drones from Blue Ridge Parkway land. Ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the date.

Airspace

Asheville Regional Airport, about nine miles south of downtown, has a control tower and Class C airspace, so southern addresses need LAANC. We check every Asheville location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

North Carolina rules

North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts. North Carolina state parks need written permission or a special use permit for drone flights.

FAQs

Can you fly at an event at Biltmore Estate?

Not without Biltmore's written consent. The estate prohibits drones and aerial photography otherwise.

Can you fly over the Blue Ridge Parkway?

Not from Parkway land. The National Park Service bans launching, landing or operating drones there, so we use approved private property nearby.

Do you need a state permit to fly commercially in North Carolina?

No longer. The state permit law was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
