Air Views Media has flown interior drone fly-throughs of more than 15 hotels in the Charleston area for Vive Media, including 20 South Battery and Hotel Bennett. Each one is a single continuous micro-drone flight through the property, planned with the hotel and the production company and flown in one take. We serve Charleston from our base in Augusta, GA, and we travel there for hotel, venue and event work. Hotel fly-throughs for Vive Media
We flew interior drone fly-throughs of more than 15 hotels in the Charleston area for Vive Media. The hotels include 20 South Battery, whose fly-through is the one on our Flythrough Tours page, and Hotel Bennett.
Our Instagram series for Vive Media shows one-take micro-drone fly-throughs around several famous hotel locations in Charleston: Hotel Bennett, The Mills House, 20 South Battery, Drayton Hall and Hotel Emeline. At Hotel Bennett, we also flew a micro drone through Camellias, the iconic Pink Room.
Fly-throughs are one part of our historic-site work. Our flythrough credits also include the USS Yorktown, the WWII aircraft carrier, along with Thomas Jefferson's Poplar Forest and Patrick Henry's Red Hill.
How we fly a Charleston fly-through
A one-take fly-through is a single continuous flight through the property on a micro drone, from one space to the next, with no cuts. We plan the path with the property and the production company, then fly it in one take. For a hotel series like our work for Vive Media, each property gets its own route, planned and flown the same way.
We build our micro drones in house to be as small as possible, specifically to fly tight interiors and around talent. We've flown hotels, historic homes and museums, a WWII aircraft carrier and entire festival grounds with them.
Airspace and permits in Charleston
Every outdoor flight starts with an airspace check for the exact site and altitude. Where the site is in controlled airspace, we get FAA authorization before the shoot. Interior fly-throughs are planned with the property: we agree the route and the timing with the hotel or venue before we fly.
Waivers and certifications
Air Views Media is run by Clark Lupton, an FAA Part 107 certified pilot since 2017. Our FAA Part 107 remote pilots operate under FAA waivers for flight over people (§107.39), over moving vehicles (§107.145), multiple aircraft (§107.35), beyond visual line of sight (§107.31), operation from a moving vehicle (§107.25) and operating limitations (§107.51).
