Our headquarters is in Augusta, Georgia, and from Lynchburg we serve the Hill City and Central Virginia with drone videography, FPV cinematography, aerial photography and live drone feeds. The pilots who fly for Hulu and Prime Video live streams, the Sphere in Las Vegas and stadium video boards are the same crew you book here, and having a base in the region means Central Virginia jobs are planned locally rather than as a long-distance trip.

Liberty University and the University of Lynchburg

Lynchburg is a college town, and campuses are some of the best subjects for aerials. Liberty University's campus spreads across the hills on the city's southeast side, with Williams Stadium, the arena and Liberty Mountain behind it. The University of Lynchburg, known as Lynchburg College until 2018, has a compact, tree-lined campus near the Blackwater Creek corridor. Admissions films, athletics hype videos, construction progress, commencement and alumni events all benefit from a camera that can rise over the quad or fly a one-take path from the gates to the front door.

Downtown and the riverfront

Downtown Lynchburg climbs the bluffs above the James River, which is why the city calls itself the City of Seven Hills. Riverfront Park, the Bluffwalk, Monument Terrace and the bridge over to Percival's Island give an aerial camera layers to work with: the river, the old warehouse district and the steeples above. We fly reveals that start on the water and climb to the skyline for tourism, real estate and business clients, and FPV passes through downtown events when the permits allow.

The Blue Ridge and Central Virginia

The Blue Ridge sits on Lynchburg's western horizon, with the Peaks of Otter and Bedford County between the city and the mountains, and Smith Mountain Lake to the southwest. That landscape is why so many Central Virginia brands, wedding venues, wineries and land sellers want aerials. We plan these shoots around light and weather on the ridges, and around the rules: the Blue Ridge Parkway is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is generally prohibited, so we fly from permitted private or public sites outside the park when a shot calls for the mountains.

From Lynchburg we cover Bedford, Forest, Amherst, Appomattox, Altavista and the rest of Central Virginia, and we travel to Roanoke, Charlottesville and Richmond for larger projects.

FPV and live events

FPV is what sets us apart from a typical local drone operator. Airspace around Lynchburg

Lynchburg Regional Airport (Preston Glenn Field) sits southwest of the city and has Class D airspace while its tower is open, which covers parts of the southern side of town. Falwell Airport, near Liberty's campus, is a separate small airfield. Many Lynchburg locations need LAANC or another FAA authorization, and we check the exact site and altitude before we quote. Large events and some stadium dates may also have temporary flight restrictions, which we plan for with the venue.

Waivers and insurance

Air Views Media is run by Clark Lupton, an FAA Part 107 certified pilot. We hold FAA Part 107 waivers including Part 107.39 (operation over people), Part 107.35 (multiple aircraft) and Part 107.31 (beyond visual line of sight). Insurance: $10 million aviation liability standard (optional up to $25 million). Certificates naming your venue, school or production are issued before the shoot.
