FPV DRONES

FPV Drones for Concerts and Festivals

An FPV drone can do what no crane or cable cam can at a festival: drop over the crowd, rise up to the stage and sweep the whole site in one move. Air Views Media flies FPV and micro drones for concerts and festivals across the US, live into the stream and recorded for recap content. Our festival aerials have gone out live on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music and Twitch.

What we fly at concerts and festivals

Live aerials for the stream

Real-time aerial angles over the stages and the crowd, fed into your livestream or broadcast production. Live festival aerials are our core service, and our pilots are used to flying on a director's cues in front of a live audience.

FPV and micro-drone content

Fast FPV passes and one-take micro-drone flythroughs for recap films, social clips and artist content, cut after the show. We build our micro drones in house to be as small as possible, so they can fly tight spaces and close to the action.

Feeds for in-venue screens

A live drone feed doesn't have to leave the venue. At UNITY at the Sphere in Las Vegas, our custom-built, sub-100-gram livestream drones fed live footage onto the Sphere's interior screen as part of the show.

Why FPV suits festivals

Festivals reward cameras that can change height and path in seconds. FPV gives directors a way to show scale without freezing the edit on a wide static shot: the aircraft can cross the crowd, climb past lighting trusses and settle on the stage in one continuous move. Organizers planning FPV should treat it like any other live camera: agree the flight envelope with site ops, put the pilot on show comms, and decide which moments are live cuts versus which are recorded for recap. That planning is general practice for festival

aerials, whether the stage is a main-stage drop or a sunset site reveal.

Flying over the crowd

Over-the-crowd shots are what make festival aerials feel live. Air Views Media holds an FAA §107.39 waiver for operation over people, along with waivers for multiple aircraft (§107.35), beyond visual line of sight (§107.31), operating limitations (§107.51), operation from a moving vehicle (§107.25) and operation over moving vehicles (§107.145). Each waiver has conditions. We plan every flight path to meet them and to fit the festival's own safety plan.

On site, that means light aircraft, rehearsed flight paths, defined no-fly zones and visual observers on every flight. We brief your production, site operations and security leads before gates open, and if a move can't be flown safely, it isn't flown.

Working with your production

Shot list and run of show

We build the shot list around your run of show: headliner walk-ons, crowd peaks, sunset, site-wide reveals and the closing set. Our pilot is on your comms, so the drone is ready when the director calls for it.

RF at a crowded site

Festivals are crowded radio environments, with wireless mics, in-ear monitors, LED walls and tens of thousands of phones. We coordinate frequencies with your RF coordinator so our video and control links stay clean. Good festival RF plans treat the aerial link like any other wireless camera: reserved channels, a clear receiver position and a backup path if the main band gets noisy.

Feed handoff

We hand the live feed to your stream truck, switcher or encoder at a point agreed in advance, and test it with your team before doors. For smaller productions working with DJI FPV goggles, our Clean Feed app gives a clean real-time feed from the goggles.

Recorded footage

Alongside the live feed, we deliver recorded FPV and micro-drone footage for your recap and social teams. Festival producers often plan live cuts for the stream and a separate pass list for next-day content; deciding that split early keeps the live show clean and still gives editors the close, fast shots they need after the weekend.

Concert and festival drone FAQ

Can you fly a drone over a festival crowd?

Yes, where the operation qualifies. Air Views Media holds an FAA §107.39 waiver for operation over people, and we plan each flight to meet the waiver's conditions and the festival's safety plan.

Can the FPV feed go live into our stream?

Yes. Live aerials are our core service. Our festival feeds have gone out on Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Amazon Music and Twitch.

Which festivals have you flown?

Ultra Music Festival in Miami, EDC Las Vegas, Austin City Limits, Outside Lands, Life is Beautiful, the Vans Warped Tour's 30th anniversary and UNITY at the Sphere in Las Vegas, among others.

Can you fly indoors at a concert venue?

Yes. For UNITY at the Sphere, we flew sub-100-gram livestream drones inside the venue, with the live feed shown on the Sphere's interior screen.

Do you also shoot recap content?

Yes. Alongside live feeds, we fly FPV passes and one-take micro-drone flythroughs for recap films and social content, as we did at EDC Las Vegas and Camp EDC in 2024.
