Case Study: Live Drone Feeds Inside Truist Park for the Atlanta Braves

At Truist Park, home of the Atlanta Braves, Air Views Media flew drones inside the stadium and sent live drone feeds to two places: the TV broadcast and the stadium video board.

The job called for a moving camera inside a working ballpark that could serve two audiences at once: viewers on TV and fans watching the board. The TV director and the board operator both need to treat the drone as a normal camera source, ready when they call for it.

MLB games carry a standing FAA flight restriction within 3 nautical miles and 3,000 feet of stadiums with 30,000 or more seats, so in-stadium flights run through the team, the venue or the broadcaster with an approved airspace waiver. Inside the ballpark, the drone works below the light towers and the canopy, around foul poles, netting and seats, on paths agreed with venue operations.

For broadcast work, a COFDM transmitter on a micro FPV drone carries a PROTON 4K FLEX camera that the truck controls through Cyanview, with feeds cabled to the broadcast truck. Planning in-stadium aerials? Call 706-284-8364.
