App State and Kidd Brewer Stadium

Our crew has flown the aerial livestream at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco since 2023. Appalachian State bans recreational and unapproved third-party drone flights on campus. Approved flights need a Part 107 pilot and an approval form submitted at least 10 days ahead, and Kidd Brewer Stadium game days can bring the FAA stadium flight restriction. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Ski resorts, venues and weddings

High Country ski resorts and outdoor brands read best from the air, and we fly resort property with the resort's approval. Mountain venues host weddings from spring through fall. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. In the mountains the bigger limits are often terrain and land rules: ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the shoot.

High Country parks, airspace and state rules

NC state parks require written permission for drones, and the Blue Ridge Parkway bans launching from its land. There is no airport with a control tower near Boone, so most addresses are in uncontrolled airspace, though we still check each one. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts. We check every Boone location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly an App State event?

Only with approval. Approved flights need a Part 107 pilot and an approval form submitted at least 10 days ahead.

Can you launch from the Blue Ridge Parkway?

No. The Parkway bans launching from its land, so we use permitted sites outside it.

Do you need a state permit to fly commercially in North Carolina?

No longer. The state permit law was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
