Boone
App State and game days
Appalachian State bans recreational and unapproved third-party drone flights on campus. Approved flights need a Part 107 pilot and an approval form submitted at least 10 days ahead, and Kidd Brewer Stadium game days can bring the FAA stadium flight restriction. For games, graduations and campus events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.
Ski resorts and outdoors
High Country ski resorts and outdoor brands read best from the air, and we fly resort property with the resort's approval. NC state parks require written permission for drones, and the Blue Ridge Parkway bans launching from its land. In the mountains the bigger limits are often terrain and land rules: ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the shoot.
Mountain real estate and weddings
View homes, cabins and land sell on the scenery, and mountain venues host weddings from spring through fall. We fly with the owner's or venue's approval, and for inns and lodges an indoor one-take fly-through shows the space; see indoor fly-through tours.
Airspace
There is no airport with a control tower near Boone, so most addresses are in uncontrolled airspace, though we still check each one. We check every Boone location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
