Durham, NC Drone Videographer and Operator

Air Views Media is a drone videography company serving Durham, Research Triangle Park and the Triangle for universities, life sciences, events, real estate and brand films. Our crew flew live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. FAA Part 107 certified pilots, $10M liability standard (optional up to $25M).

Durham

Duke and downtown

Duke University requires an approved flight request at least a week ahead for any drone flight on campus, so we file early and plan around its review. Downtown Durham's restored tobacco warehouses, the American Tobacco Campus and the ballpark district suit hospitality and business films.

Life sciences and offices

Research Triangle Park and Durham's lab and office campuses need aerials that show scale, access and layout, filmed with the owner's approval. For lobbies and labs an indoor one-take fly-through shows the space in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours.

Events and parks

City code bans flying model aircraft in Durham city parks, so we treat drones the same way and confirm with Durham Parks and Recreation before any park shoot. For games, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Airspace

Raleigh-Durham International is southeast of downtown, and some Durham addresses sit under its Class C airspace. The federal prison complex at Butner to the north is a federal no-drone area. We check every Durham location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly a drone at Duke University?

Only with an approved Duke flight request, filed at least a week ahead. We plan campus shoots around that review.

Can you fly in Durham city parks?

City code bans model aircraft in city parks, so we confirm with Durham Parks and Recreation first or film from private property.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Durham?

It depends on the address. Some addresses are in Raleigh-Durham International Class C airspace. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Do you film offices and labs in Research Triangle Park?

Yes. Campus aerials, building exteriors and indoor fly-throughs, filmed with the owner's approval.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
