Pinehurst

Pinehurst drone videography

We fly golf events, resorts and hotels, weddings, equestrian events, golf course real estate and hospitality content across Pinehurst, Southern Pines and the Sandhills. Pinehurst No. 2 hosted the 2024 U.S. Open and is set to host the men's and women's U.S. Opens in 2029. For hotels and clubhouses we also fly one-take indoor fly-through tours. For golf and resort events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Golf championships

USGA championships ban drones for spectators, so any flight during a championship has to be part of the approved broadcast or media plan. Outside championship weeks, course and resort flights need the club's approval. We bring live golf broadcast experience; read the PGA Championship case study.

Moore County and Fort Bragg airspace

Moore County Airport has no control tower. Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall lie to the east and south, with restricted military airspace that starts at the surface in places, so we keep flights clear of it. We check every Pinehurst location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

North Carolina drone law

North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts. North Carolina state parks need written permission or a special use permit for drone flights. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

FAQs

Can you fly at a U.S. Open at Pinehurst?

Only as part of the championship's approved broadcast or media plan. USGA championships ban spectator drones.

Do you need a North Carolina drone permit?

No. The state permit for commercial pilots was repealed effective December 1, 2024, and FAA Part 107 certification is what applies.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Pinehurst?

It depends on the address. Fort Bragg and Camp Mackall have restricted military airspace nearby. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Do you film golf course homes and resorts?

Yes, with the owner's or club's approval. We keep neighbors and golfers who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
