Live event drones in Decatur
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Decatur. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Decatur drone videography page. Our headquarters is in Augusta, so Georgia shoots are planned by our home crew.
Decatur Square festivals
Our crew filmed Megan Thee Stallion's set at Rolling Loud Miami 2021 with a micro FPV drone. Decatur Square, the courthouse lawn and the MARTA plaza fill up for the Decatur Arts Festival, the book festival and summer concerts. We fly with the city's and organizer's approval. For festivals and concerts we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Listening rooms and campuses
Decatur has a strong listening-room culture, from Eddie's Attic to the bars and patios around the square, and in a small room we fly ducted micro drones on a rehearsed line, only with the artist's and venue's approval. Agnes Scott College and the Emory campus nearby host graduations and campus events. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Decatur airspace and Georgia law
Decatur is a few miles south of DeKalb-Peachtree Airport and inside metro Atlanta's busy airspace. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Decatur location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Can you fly the Decatur Arts Festival?
With the city's and organizer's approval, outside the crowd unless our waivers allow otherwise.
Can you fly inside a small music venue?
Yes, with micro drones on a rehearsed route, and only with the venue's and artist's approval.
Can you film a ticketed show in Decatur?
Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
