Perimeter Center and parks

Perimeter Center's corporate headquarters and hotels host launches and company events, and Morgan Falls Overlook Park on Bull Sluice Lake and the gardens at Heritage Sandy Springs suit civic events filmed with the city's approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

DeKalb-Peachtree airspace and Georgia law

Much of Sandy Springs sits under DeKalb-Peachtree Airport's Class D airspace, so we file LAANC or an FAA authorization for most addresses, and hospital helicopter traffic adds another reason to plan carefully. The Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area is National Park Service land, so river views are filmed from private or city property. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Sandy Springs location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
