Live event drones in Stone Mountain

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Stone Mountain. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Stone Mountain, GA drone videographer page. Our headquarters is in Augusta, so Georgia shoots are planned by our home crew.

Park festivals

Our crew flew five days of live coverage, live to FOX, at the FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta. Stone Mountain Park hosts big crowds for events such as the Yellow Daisy Festival, the Highland Games and its drone and light shows. For festivals and concerts we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Village, Tucker and venues

We fly festivals, outdoor concerts, corporate events and venues around Stone Mountain Village, Tucker and east metro Atlanta. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Park rules, airspace and Georgia law

Stone Mountain Park is run by the Stone Mountain Memorial Association, whose rules do not allow drones anywhere in the park without permission from its Chief Executive Officer, and filming there also needs a location agreement and insurance. DeKalb-Peachtree Airport sits to the northwest, under the approach paths for Atlanta's main airport. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Stone Mountain location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly drones in Stone Mountain Park?

Only with written permission from the Stone Mountain Memorial Association. The park bars drones without its Chief Executive Officer's approval, and filming there also needs a location agreement and insurance.

Can you cover the Yellow Daisy Festival?

Only with the association's permission and the organizer's consent, which we arrange well ahead.

Can you film a ticketed show in Stone Mountain?

Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
