Johnson City

FPV drone pilot in Johnson City

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Johnson City for festival and concert FPV, brewery and venue fly-throughs, mountain property films and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Johnson City, TN drone videographer page.

Festivals and campus events

Our crew flies EDC Las Vegas as a three-pilot drone team, with over-the-crowd drones fed into the Hulu live stream. Downtown festivals and East Tennessee State University events are flown with the organizer's or university's approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Johnson City, TN live event drones.

Breweries, venues and mountain property

Downtown restaurants, breweries and offices suit one-take fly-throughs, and mountain homes and land suit FPV property films. Ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points first. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Airspace and federal sites

Tri-Cities Airport has a control tower, so some addresses need LAANC. Holston Army Ammunition Plant in Kingsport is a federal no-drone area. Bristol Motor Speedway is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We check every Johnson City location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Tennessee event drone law

A Tennessee law that took effect July 1, 2026 makes it a Class A misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over it, with exceptions including FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get that consent in writing before every show.

FAQs

Does Tennessee law limit drones at ticketed shows?

Yes. A state law in effect since July 1, 2026 bars flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without consent from whoever controls it, so we get written consent first.

Can you fly at Bristol Motor Speedway on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can you fly FPV through a brewery?

Yes, with the owner's approval and a route planned around guests and staff.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
