Gainesville
FPV drone pilot in Gainesville
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Gainesville for campus and game day content, venue and office fly-throughs, festival FPV and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Gainesville, FL drone videographer page.
Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and UF
Our crew flew a one-take micro-drone fly-through of the Camp EDC campground in 2024. Ben Hill Griffin Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. The University of Florida requires an Environmental Health and Safety flight permit for any drone flight on campus, with Part 107 pilots, a vendor insurance certificate naming UF and at least three business days for review.
Venues and festivals
Downtown, Midtown and local venues host concerts and festivals that we fly with the organizer's approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Gainesville, FL live event drones.
Parks, Florida law and airspace
Paynes Prairie Preserve is a state park: Florida state parks prohibit drone takeoff and landing on park land, so we launch from outside the park. Camp Blanding to the northeast is a federal no-drone area. Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both. Gainesville Regional, 3 miles northeast of downtown, has a control tower, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Gainesville location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
