Currahee and Camp Toccoa

Our crew has flown the aerial livestream at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco since 2023. Currahee Mountain and Camp Toccoa are where World War II paratroopers, including the Band of Brothers company, trained, and the Currahee Military Museum is in the downtown depot. Much of the mountain is reached by Forest Service roads, so we check each site's land rules before quoting. Toccoa Falls and Lake Hartwell

Toccoa Falls, a 186-foot free-falling waterfall, is on the private campus of Toccoa Falls College, so any flight there needs the college's permission. Lake Hartwell, east of town, is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake, so flights from or over Corps land need the Corps' approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Toccoa airspace and Georgia law

Toccoa's airport, RG LeTourneau Field, about two miles northeast of downtown, has no control tower. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Toccoa location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

Can you film at Toccoa Falls?

Yes, with permission from Toccoa Falls College, which owns the falls. We arrange it before the event.

Can you fly over Lake Hartwell?

Only with approval from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for flights from or over Corps land.

Can you film a ticketed show in Toccoa?

Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
