Live event drones in Athens
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Athens. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Athens drone videography page, and for one-take fly-throughs see our Athens FPV drone pilot page.
Akins Ford Arena and The Classic Center
Akins Ford Arena opened at The Classic Center in December 2024 and seats roughly 5,500 for hockey, with more for concerts depending on the stage setup. The Classic Center campus also has a theater of about 2,100 seats and the 440 Foundry Pavilion for conventions and receptions. Indoor flights at the arena need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action.
University of Georgia events
University of Georgia policy calls for drone flights on campus to be approved in advance through its Office of Security and Emergency Preparedness. For campus concerts, commencements and department events, we start that approval with the host department early and confirm the current policy before booking.
Downtown festivals and races
Downtown Athens festivals and races run on public streets under the organizer's event permit, which sets where crews, stages and equipment can be. We work from the organizer's site map, launch from agreed spots and keep the drone clear of open crowds. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.
Georgia event drone law
Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three.

FAQs
Can you fly a drone at Akins Ford Arena?
Only with the venue's approval. Indoor arena flights use small drones and a plan agreed with production, security and lighting, and we never fly over seated fans without that plan.
Do you need approval to fly on the UGA campus?
Yes. University policy calls for drone flights on campus to be approved in advance, so we work with the host department to get approval before the event.
Can you deliver same-night edits for social?
Yes. For concerts and festivals we can cut short vertical and horizontal edits the same night for social, with the full recap delivered later.
Can you film a ticketed show in Athens?
Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
