Live event drones in Dahlonega

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Dahlonega. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Dahlonega, GA drone videographer page. Our headquarters is in Augusta, so Georgia shoots are planned by our home crew.

Wineries, weddings and festivals

Our crew has flown one-take interior fly-throughs of more than 15 Charleston-area hotels for Vive Media. The vineyards around Dahlonega host weddings, harvest events and tastings, and aerials show the rows, the views and the venue in one take. For weddings, festivals and winery events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

The square and the university

The 1836 courthouse on the public square now houses the Dahlonega Gold Museum State Historic Site, so flying over it needs a Georgia State Parks drone waiver. The gold steeple of the University of North Georgia anchors campus content. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Forest, mountains and Georgia law

Much of the surrounding land is Chattahoochee National Forest, where drones may not take off or land in designated wilderness and commercial filming may need a Forest Service permit. In the mountains the bigger limits are often terrain and land rules: ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the shoot. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Dahlonega location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly over the Dahlonega Gold Museum?

Only with a Georgia State Parks drone waiver, because the museum is a state historic site.

Can you fly in the Chattahoochee National Forest?

Drones may not take off or land in designated wilderness, and commercial filming elsewhere may need a Forest Service permit.

Can you film a ticketed show in Dahlonega?

Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
