Live event drones in Thomson
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Thomson. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Thomson drone videography page. Our headquarters is in Augusta, so Georgia shoots are planned by our home crew.
Downtown festivals and parades
Our crew filmed aerials of The Independent, the Austin tower known as the Jenga building, for Science Channel's Impossible Engineering. Downtown Thomson's historic storefronts, the old depot area and the McDuffie County courthouse area host festivals, parades and Main Street events. For festivals and parades we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Plants, farms and the lake
Thomson's position on I-20 brings manufacturers and distribution centers, and plant openings and recruiting events suit an aerial and an indoor pass planned with your safety team. Out in the county, Clarks Hill Lake and the farms host tournaments and field days, and we fly over livestock only at height. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Thomson airspace and Georgia law
Much of McDuffie County is outside controlled airspace, but the Thomson-McDuffie County Airport sits near town. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Thomson location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Can you cover a parade in downtown Thomson?
Yes, with the organizer's approval and a flight plan that keeps the drone off the open crowd.
Does Thomson need FAA authorization?
Usually not. Much of McDuffie County is outside controlled airspace, but we check every job, including near the county airport.
Can you film a ticketed show in Thomson?
Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
