Our crew has flown the aerial livestream at Outside Lands in Golden Gate Park in San Francisco since 2023. Evans Towne Center Park is the town's stage, with the Columbia County Amphitheater on its lawn hosting concerts and community nights. Lake Thurmond and lake events
Lake Thurmond, which most locals still call Clarks Hill, brings boating, fishing tournaments and lakefront homes. Much of the lake's shore is Army Corps of Engineers land with its own rules about launching aircraft, so we confirm the launch point before the shoot. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Evans airspace and Georgia law
Evans lies northwest of Augusta Regional and Daniel Field, and whether an address needs FAA authorization depends on where it falls on the LAANC map. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Evans location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
