Bayfront festivals and theaters
Our crew flew FPV over Kinetic Field at EDC Orlando in 2022. Sarasota's bayfront, theaters and event venues host festivals and shows that we fly with the venue's approval inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Beach events on the keys
Siesta Key, Lido Key and Longboat Key host beach concerts and resort events. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. Florida's drone privacy law protects people on private property who cannot be seen from the ground, so we keep neighbors out of frame or get their consent.
Parks and Florida law
Myakka River State Park is a state park: Florida state parks prohibit drone takeoff and landing on park land, so we launch from outside the park. De Soto National Memorial in Bradenton is National Park Service land, which bans drone launches without the superintendent's written approval. Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both.
Airspace
Sarasota Bradenton International, 3 miles north of downtown, has a control tower, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Sarasota location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
