Live event drones in Tampa

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Tampa. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Tampa, FL drone videographer page, and for one-take fly-throughs see our Tampa FPV drone pilot page.

MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre

MidFlorida Credit Union Amphitheatre at the Florida State Fairgrounds holds about 20,000 across reserved seats and lawn. Drone coverage at amphitheater shows is approved by the venue and the promoter, and we plan it around the stage, the lawn and the house cameras. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.

City parks and special events

The City of Tampa says City Code Sec. 16-36 prohibits launching or landing a drone in a city park, so for festivals in waterfront parks we launch from approved private property or fly only as part of the organizer's approved production. City special event permits are due at least 60 days ahead for park-only events and 90 days ahead when an event needs street closures, city services or alcohol, and film shoots in city parks go through the Tampa Bay Film Commission.

Live feeds to screens and streams

We send the drone feed live to IMAG screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, with the format and cue points agreed in advance; see Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Florida drone laws

Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both. Florida's drone privacy law protects people on private property who cannot be seen from the ground, so we keep neighbors out of frame or get their consent.

City special event permits are due at least 60 days ahead for park-only events and 90 days ahead with street closures, city services or alcohol, so start early.
