FPV drone pilot in Birmingham

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Birmingham for motorsports and car content, concerts, venue fly-throughs and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Birmingham, AL drone videographer page.

Barber Motorsports Park

Barber Motorsports Park east of downtown has a 2.38-mile, 17-turn road course and the Barber Vintage Motorsports Museum, known for its motorcycle collection. Any FPV at the park has to be approved by the venue as part of an official production, and covered race events bring an FAA flight restriction.

Arenas and industrial backdrops

Legacy Arena at the BJCC hosts concerts and sports, and indoor flights there need the venue's approval and a plan with production, security and lighting. Birmingham's industrial landmarks, such as Sloss Furnaces, make strong FPV backdrops, and we get the site owner's permission before any flight. See Indoor arena FPV drones.

Alabama drone law

An Alabama law that took effect October 1, 2026 bars flying within 400 feet of or above a qualifying ticketed music, sports or performing arts event unless an exemption applies, such as the event's consent or lawful FAA-authorized flight. We get the organizer's consent in writing for every show.

FAQs

Can you fly FPV at Barber Motorsports Park?

Only with the venue's approval as part of an official production. Race events also bring an FAA flight restriction around the park.

Does Alabama law limit drones at ticketed events?

Yes. A state law in effect since October 1, 2026 bars flights within 400 feet of a qualifying ticketed event unless an exemption applies, such as the event's consent.

Can you fly FPV inside Legacy Arena?

Only with the venue's approval and a plan agreed with production, security and lighting.

Can you film industrial sites like Sloss Furnaces?

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
