Tuscaloosa

Bryant-Denny Stadium and UA

Saban Field at Bryant-Denny Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. The University of Alabama does not allow drone flights on campus on football game days, and other campus flights need university approval through its drone request form, with Part 107, LAANC, a safety plan and often an insurance certificate, at least 7 to 10 business days ahead. For games, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Concerts and events

The amphitheater and other ticketed venues host concerts and events year round. Alabama's ticketed event drone law, in effect since October 1, 2026, bars flights within 400 feet of or above a ticketed music, sports or performing arts event unless the organizer consents or another exemption applies, so we fly event work with the organizer's written consent.

Businesses and real estate

Downtown, the riverwalk, student housing and local businesses suit brand, real estate and recruiting films, filmed with the owner's approval. Many Alabama cities limit drone takeoff and landing on city property such as parks, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission. For lobbies and venues an indoor one-take fly-through shows the space in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours.

Airspace

Tuscaloosa National Airport, 3 miles northwest of downtown, has a control tower, so many addresses near the river and campus need LAANC. We check every Tuscaloosa location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly near Bryant-Denny Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly on the University of Alabama campus?

Only with university approval through its drone request form, filed at least 7 to 10 business days ahead, and never on football game days.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Tuscaloosa?

It depends on the address. Tuscaloosa National Airport has a control tower. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you fly drones at concerts and games in Alabama?

Yes, with the organizer's written consent. Alabama's ticketed event drone law took effect October 1, 2026, and FAA stadium restrictions still apply at larger venues.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
