Birmingham, AL Drone Videographer and Operator

Stadiums and events

Protective Stadium, Legion Field and Barber Motorsports Park are all on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Alabama's ticketed event drone law, in effect since October 1, 2026, bars flights within 400 feet of or above a ticketed music, sports or performing arts event unless the organizer consents or another exemption applies, so we fly event work with the organizer's written consent. For games, races, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Downtown and businesses

Downtown, the medical district, Lakeview, Avondale and local businesses suit brand, recruiting and real estate films, filmed with the owner's approval. Many Alabama cities limit drone takeoff and landing on city property such as parks, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission. For lobbies, venues and offices an indoor one-take fly-through shows the space in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours.

Federal sites and Alabama law

The Air National Guard base at Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International is a federal no-drone area. Alabama law makes it a felony to fly a drone within 500 feet horizontally or 200 feet vertically of a state prison, or to photograph one, so we plan routes well clear of them. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Airspace

Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International, 4 miles northeast of downtown, has a control tower and Class C airspace over much of the city, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Birmingham location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
