Maxwell and federal sites
Maxwell Air Force Base, about 2 miles northwest of downtown, the Maxwell-Gunter Annex, the Air National Guard base at Montgomery Regional Airport and a Marine Corps Reserve site are all federal no-drone areas, so we plan launch points well clear of them. Alabama law makes it a felony to fly a drone within 500 feet horizontally or 200 feet vertically of a state prison, or to photograph one, so we plan routes well clear of them.
Downtown and the riverfront
The riverfront, the Capitol area, downtown hotels and local businesses suit tourism, brand and real estate films, filmed with the owner's approval. Many Alabama cities limit drone takeoff and landing on city property such as parks, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission. For lobbies and venues an indoor one-take fly-through shows the space in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours.
Events
Ballgames, bowl games, concerts and festivals fill the calendar. Alabama's ticketed event drone law, in effect since October 1, 2026, bars flights within 400 feet of or above a ticketed music, sports or performing arts event unless the organizer consents or another exemption applies, so we fly event work with the organizer's written consent. For games, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.
Airspace
Montgomery Regional Airport, 6 miles southwest of downtown, has a control tower, and Maxwell's airfield is towered too, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Montgomery location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs
Can you fly near Maxwell Air Force Base?
No. Maxwell and the Gunter Annex are federal no-drone areas, so we plan shoots well clear of both.
Can you fly near prisons around Montgomery?
No. Alabama law makes it a felony to fly within 500 feet horizontally or 200 feet vertically of a state prison.
Do you need FAA approval to fly in Montgomery?
It depends on the address. Montgomery Regional Airport and Maxwell both have control towers. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Can you fly drones at concerts and games in Alabama?
Yes, with the organizer's written consent. Alabama's ticketed event drone law took effect October 1, 2026, and FAA stadium restrictions still apply at larger venues.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
