Outer Banks, NC Drone Videographer and Operator
Air Views Media is a drone videography company serving the Outer Banks, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Duck for weddings, vacation rentals, events and tourism. Our crew flew drone coverage at Austin City Limits in Zilker Park for the festival's Hulu live broadcast. FAA Part 107 certified pilots, $10M liability standard (optional up to $25M).
Outer Banks
Outer Banks drone videography
We fly beach weddings, vacation rental and oceanfront real estate, resorts, events, fishing tournaments and tourism content across Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo. For events and concerts we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.
National park land
Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site are National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge is federal refuge land, so we check with the refuge before any shoot near it.
Jockey's Ridge and the beaches
Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head does not allow drones without a special use permit from the park. North Carolina state parks need written permission or a special use permit for drone flights. Beach towns set their own rules for launching from public beaches, and nesting season adds closures. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first.
Dare County airspace
First Flight Airport and Dare County Regional Airport have no control tower. The Dare County bombing range on the mainland across the sound is restricted military airspace, some of it starting at the surface, so we keep flights well clear of it. We check every Outer Banks location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

FAQs
Can you fly at Cape Hatteras National Seashore?
Not without the superintendent's written approval. Drones may not launch or land on National Park Service land, so we plan beach aerials from other sites.
Can you fly at Jockey's Ridge?
Only with a special use permit from the state park. Without one we film the dunes from outside the park.
Do you need FAA approval to fly in the Outer Banks?
It depends on the address. The Dare County bombing range across the sound is restricted military airspace. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Do you film beach weddings and rentals?
Yes. We check the town's beach rules and keep guests and neighbors who have not agreed to be filmed out of frame.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
