Gatlinburg
Great Smoky Mountains rules
Great Smoky Mountains National Park bans launching, landing or flying drones on its land without the superintendent's written approval, and its boundary wraps tightly around Gatlinburg, including the Spur strip toward Pigeon Forge. We map the boundary before every shoot and keep the whole flight off park land.
Cabins and hotels
Cabin rentals, hotels and chalets need aerials of views and access plus interior tours, filmed with the owner's approval. An indoor one-take fly-through shows a cabin or lobby in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours. In the mountains the bigger limits are often terrain and land rules: ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the shoot.
Weddings and attractions
Mountain weddings, attractions and downtown businesses are steady work, and private attractions and resorts set their own drone rules, so we get written approval first. Tennessee law bars drones over open-air ticketed events with more than 100 people, and over fireworks displays, without the owner's or operator's consent, so we get that consent in writing.
Airspace
Gatlinburg-Pigeon Forge Airport in Sevierville has no control tower, and the town is in uncontrolled airspace, but low tour helicopters are common, so we keep a visual observer on every shoot. We check every Gatlinburg location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs
Can you fly a drone in the Great Smoky Mountains?
Not on national park land. The park bans drones without written approval, so we film from private property outside the boundary.
Do you film cabin rentals in Gatlinburg?
Yes. Exterior aerials of the view and access plus indoor fly-through tours, with the owner's approval.
Do you need FAA approval to fly in Gatlinburg?
It depends on the address. The nearby airport has no control tower, but park land and helicopters still shape the plan. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.
Can you film weddings in the mountains near Gatlinburg?
Yes, at private venues and cabins with the owner's approval, outside national park land.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
