Nashville

Stadiums and concerts

Nissan Stadium and FirstBank Stadium at Vanderbilt are both on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Tennessee law bars drones over open-air ticketed events with more than 100 people, and over fireworks displays, without the owner's or operator's consent, so we get that consent in writing. For games, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Broadway, hotels and venues

Lower Broadway, the Gulch and downtown hotels and venues suit hospitality and brand films, filmed from private property with the owner's approval. For bars, lobbies and studios an indoor one-take fly-through shows the room in a single shot; see indoor fly-through tours.

Metro parks

Metro Nashville Parks allows model aircraft only at designated flying fields with a permit, and says it cannot permit drones anywhere else in its parks for any purpose, including filming. We launch from private property instead, with the owner's approval.

Airspace

Nashville International, 5 miles southeast of downtown, has a control tower, and John C. Tune Airport to the west is towered too, so many addresses need LAANC. Berry Field Air National Guard Base at the airport and the Tennessee National Guard headquarters are federal no-drone areas. We check every Nashville location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly near Nissan Stadium on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you launch a drone in a Metro Nashville park?

No. Metro Parks allows model aircraft only at its designated flying fields and does not permit drone filming elsewhere in its parks, so we launch from private property.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Nashville?

It depends on the address. Nashville International and John C. Tune both have control towers. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you film over a ticketed show in Nashville?

Only with the venue's consent. Tennessee law bars drones over open-air ticketed events of more than 100 people without it, so we get it in writing.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
