Live event drones in Gulf Shores

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Gulf Shores. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Gulf Shores, AL drone videographer page.

Beach events and city permits

Our crew has flown live broadcast and FPV drone coverage at Ultra Music Festival in Miami. Gulf Shores bars drone takeoff, landing and flight within 500 feet of city venues, outdoor special events and Gulf beach areas unless the flight is FAA authorized and the city has issued a permit, and its permit asks for Part 107, LAANC, a grid map and proof of insurance. Orange Beach has a similar 500 foot rule, so we file the city permits before beach shoots. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Resorts, weddings and parks

Beach resorts, condos, vacation rentals, boating and weddings are steady work, filmed with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. Gulf State Park is a state park: Alabama state parks set their own drone rules, so we get written permission from the park before launching on park land. Bon Secour National Wildlife Refuge is federal refuge land, so we fly from outside it unless the refuge approves. We also watch for posted sea turtle and shorebird nesting areas.

Airspace and Alabama law

Jack Edwards National Airport, 2 miles north of Gulf Shores, has a control tower, so many addresses need LAANC. Navy outlying fields in Baldwin County tied to NAS Whiting Field are federal no-drone areas. Alabama's ticketed event drone law, in effect since October 1, 2026, bars flights within 400 feet of or above a ticketed music, sports or performing arts event unless the organizer consents or another exemption applies, so we fly event work with the organizer's written consent. We check every Gulf Shores location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Do you need a city permit for a Gulf Shores beach event?

Yes. The city bars flights within 500 feet of outdoor special events and Gulf beach areas unless the flight is FAA authorized and the city has issued a permit.

Can you launch from Gulf State Park?

Only with written permission from the park, because Alabama state parks set their own drone rules.

Does Alabama law limit drones at ticketed events?

Yes. Since October 1, 2026 state law bars flights within 400 feet of or above a ticketed event unless the organizer consents or another exemption applies, so we get consent in writing.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
