Live event drones in Destin

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Destin. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Destin, FL drone videographer page.

Beach events and festivals

Our crew flew FPV over Kinetic Field at EDC Orlando in 2022. Destin's beach events, harbor festivals and fishing tournaments suit the same close coverage inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Resorts and weddings

Resorts, rentals and beach wedding venues are flown with the property's approval. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Airspace and Eglin

Destin Executive Airport has a control tower, and the airport says its Class D airspace covers Destin to the Walton County line, all the beaches and Crab Island, so nearly every event needs FAA authorization. Eglin Air Force Base, Hurlburt Field and Duke Field are federal no-drone areas, and Eglin's restricted airspace covers much of the county. We check every Destin location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Florida drone law and parks

Henderson Beach is a state park: Florida state parks prohibit drone takeoff and landing on park land, so we launch from outside the park. The Okaloosa Island area of Gulf Islands National Seashore is National Park Service land, which bans drone launches without the superintendent's written approval. Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both.

FAQs

Does a Destin event need FAA authorization?

Almost always. Destin Executive Airport's Class D airspace covers the town, the beaches and Crab Island, so we file LAANC or FAA authorization first.

Are there Florida laws on where drones can fly?

Yes. Florida law bars flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, seaports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents, and it bars flights over K-12 schools.

Can you fly near Eglin Air Force Base?

No. Eglin, Hurlburt Field and Duke Field are federal no-drone areas, so we plan launch points well clear of them.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
