The Amelia and car week

Our crew flew drones down the Las Vegas Strip and around the F1 cars at the 2022 Las Vegas Grand Prix launch party. We fly luxury resorts and hotels, The Amelia concours and car week, festivals in Fernandina Beach, golf and beach weddings across Amelia Island and Nassau County. For car events and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Resorts, beaches and state parks

Fort Clinch State Park and Amelia Island State Park fall under the state park rule. Florida state parks prohibit drone takeoff and landing on park land, so we launch from outside the park. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Kings Bay, airspace and Florida law

Fernandina Beach Municipal Airport has no permanent control tower, though a temporary tower has operated during the concours. The FAA posts a drone security restriction near Naval Submarine Base Kings Bay, just north across the St. Marys River, so we keep north end flights clear of it. Florida Statute 330.41 bars drone flights over critical infrastructure such as substations, water plants, seaports, airports and military sites unless the flight is a commercial one that follows FAA rules or the owner consents in writing, and it bars flights over K-12 schools, so we plan routes around both. Florida's drone privacy law protects people on private property who cannot be seen from the ground, so we keep neighbors out of frame or get their consent. We check every Amelia Island location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
