Live event drones in Columbia

This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Columbia. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Columbia, SC drone videographer page, and for one-take fly-throughs see our Columbia, SC FPV drone pilot page.

Game days

Our crew flew live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. Williams-Brice Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly University of South Carolina game day content only inside an approved production. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Festivals and downtown events

Our crew flies EDC Las Vegas as a three-pilot drone team, with over-the-crowd drones fed into the Hulu live stream, and festivals around the State House, the Vista and the rivers are planned the same way, inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. City parks need permission for drone use, and Congaree National Park bans drones without the superintendent's written approval.

Airspace and federal sites

Much of the city sits under the controlled airspace around Columbia Metropolitan Airport, so many addresses need LAANC. Fort Jackson and McEntire Joint National Guard Base are federal no-drone areas. We check every Columbia location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

South Carolina drone law

South Carolina's Act 150, set to take effect January 1, 2027, makes it a crime to knowingly fly within 1,500 feet of a military installation or a prison or jail without written permission, so we plan routes around those sites. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs

Can you fly at Williams-Brice Stadium on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can you fly near Fort Jackson?

No. Fort Jackson is a federal no-drone area, and we keep every event flight outside its boundary.

Does South Carolina have its own drone law?

Yes. Act 150, set to take effect January 1, 2027, bars knowingly flying within 1,500 feet of a military installation, prison or jail without written permission.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
