Museum City events
Cartersville calls itself Georgia's Museum City, with the Booth Western Art Museum downtown, the Tellus Science Museum by I-75 and the Savoy Automobile Museum west of town. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Lake Allatoona, parks and Georgia law
Lake Allatoona is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers lake, so flights from or over Corps land need the Corps' approval. Etowah Indian Mounds State Historic Site and Red Top Mountain State Park require a Georgia State Parks drone waiver. Cartersville Airport, about three miles southwest of downtown, has no control tower. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Cartersville location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
