Historic downtown

Our crew flew live broadcast drone work for the T-Mobile 5G Range Show at the 2024 PGA Championship. Downtown Americus is a National Register historic district anchored by the 1892 Windsor Hotel and the restored Rylander Theatre, and its streets host festivals and community events. Georgia Southwestern and nonprofits

Georgia Southwestern State University suits campus, athletics and event coverage, scheduled around university approvals, and Americus is home to Habitat for Humanity's headquarters and its Global Village and Discovery Center. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

National parks, airspace and Georgia law

Andersonville National Historic Site and Jimmy Carter National Historical Park are National Park Service units, where drones are not allowed without the superintendent's written approval, so we plan around them. Jimmy Carter Regional Airport, about four miles northeast of downtown, has no control tower. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Americus location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

Can you fly at Andersonville or the Jimmy Carter park?

Not without written approval from the National Park Service superintendent. We film from private property outside the park boundaries instead.

Can you film a ticketed show in Americus?

Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.

Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?

Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
