Riverfront festivals
Our crew flew drone coverage at Austin City Limits in Zilker Park for the festival's Hulu live broadcast, and we plan Albany festivals along the Flint River, near Ray Charles Plaza and the Flint RiverQuarium, the same way, inside the organizer's production plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Civic center shows and campus events
The Albany Civic Center hosts concerts and events where we fly with the venue's approval. Indoor flights at the civic center need the venue's approval and a flight plan agreed with production, security and the lighting crew, and we fly small, lightweight drones close to the action. Albany State University events and Chehaw Park events are planned with each organizer.
Airspace and the Marine base
Southwest Georgia Regional Airport has a control tower, and its Class D airspace is in effect while the tower is open. Marine Corps Logistics Base Albany is covered by a permanent FAA drone restriction from the surface to 400 feet. We check every Albany location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.
Georgia event drone law
Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three.

Do you need the organizer's consent to film a ticketed event in Albany?
Yes. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of or above a gated ticketed event without consent from whoever controls it, so we get it in writing first.
Can you fly near the Marine Corps base in Albany?
