FPV drone pilot in Memphis

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Memphis for music videos, sports content, venue fly-throughs and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Memphis, TN drone videographer page.

Beale Street and city permits

The Memphis and Shelby County Film and Television Commission asks productions to call first when using a drone, filming B-roll on Beale Street or filming on city or county property, and when a permit is needed the paperwork has to be in its office at least 10 days before the shoot. We check with the commission early for every street-level FPV shoot.

Arenas, studios and music venues

FedExForum, home of the Grizzlies, and the city's clubs, studios and hotels suit FPV inside, flown only with the venue's approval and a plan with production, security and lighting. Retail landmarks such as Bass Pro Shops at the Pyramid are private property, so any flight there needs the owner's written permission. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See Indoor arena FPV drones and FPV drones for live broadcast.

Tennessee drone laws

A Tennessee law that took effect July 1, 2026 makes it a Class A misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over it, with exceptions including FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get that consent in writing before every show.

FAQs

Do you need a permit to fly FPV on Beale Street?

Possibly. The film commission asks productions using drones or filming on Beale Street to call first, and permit paperwork is due at least 10 days before the shoot.

Can you fly FPV inside FedExForum?

Only with the venue's approval and a plan agreed with production, security and lighting.

Can you shoot FPV for a music video in Memphis?

Yes. We plan one-take and multi-shot FPV moves with the director, rehearse the path and fly close only to performers who have agreed to it.

Does Tennessee law limit drones at ticketed shows?

Yes. A state law in effect since July 1, 2026 bars flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without consent from whoever controls it, so we get written consent first.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
