Jackson

FPV drone pilot in Jackson

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Jackson for stadium and game day content, venue fly-throughs, festivals and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Jackson, MS drone videographer page.

Stadiums and game days

Our crew flies live drone feeds to the Davis Wade Stadium video boards for Mississippi State football. Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We fly stadium FPV only inside an approved production. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Jackson, MS live event drones.

Downtown, venues and festivals

Downtown, Fondren, Belhaven and the Ross Barnett Reservoir suit FPV brand content and festival recaps, flown with the owner's or organizer's approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Federal sites and Mississippi law

The Air National Guard base at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International is a federal no-drone area, and the Natchez Trace Parkway is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Mississippi reserves drone rules to the state, but cities can still set takeoff and landing rules for their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission. Mississippi law makes it a crime to use a drone to record critical infrastructure or a correctional facility without the owner's prior written consent, so we get that consent or keep those sites out of the shot.

Airspace

Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International, about 5 miles east of downtown, and Hawkins Field, about 3 miles northwest, both have control towers and controlled airspace, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Jackson location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium on event days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.

Can you fly FPV over the Natchez Trace Parkway?

Not from Parkway land without the superintendent's written approval. It is National Park Service land.

Does Mississippi law limit where drones can fly?

Yes. Recording critical infrastructure or a correctional facility without the owner's prior written consent is a crime, so we get consent or keep those sites out of the shot.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
