Mississippi Veterans Memorial Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. For games, concerts and festivals we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Downtown and businesses

Downtown, Fondren, Belhaven, the Ross Barnett Reservoir and Madison County suit brand, recruiting and real estate films, filmed with the owner's approval. Mississippi reserves drone rules to the state, but cities can still set takeoff and landing rules for their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission. Federal sites, parks and Mississippi law

The Air National Guard base at Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International is a federal no-drone area, as is the federal prison complex in Yazoo City. The Natchez Trace Parkway, which runs through the metro, is National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Mississippi law makes it a crime to use a drone to record critical infrastructure, such as refineries, power plants, water plants, ports and rail facilities, or a correctional facility without the owner's prior written consent, so we get that consent or keep those sites out of the shot. Mississippi state parks do not allow aircraft, including drones, on park land or water without written permission from the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, so we get it before any park shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Airspace

Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International, about 5 miles east of downtown, and Hawkins Field, about 3 miles northwest, both have control towers and controlled airspace, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Jackson location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Can you fly near Veterans Memorial Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly near the Jackson airport?

Only with FAA authorization. Jackson-Medgar Wiley Evers International has a control tower and controlled airspace, and the Air National Guard base there is a federal no-drone area.

Can you fly on the Natchez Trace Parkway?

Not from National Park Service land without written approval. We film from private land nearby.

Can you film refineries, plants or ports in Mississippi?

Only with the owner's prior written consent. Mississippi law makes recording critical infrastructure or a correctional facility by drone without consent a crime.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
