Air Views Media is a drone videography company serving Hattiesburg, Petal and the Pine Belt for college game days, events, hospitals, real estate and brand films. Hattiesburg

Southern Miss and M.M. Roberts Stadium

M.M. Roberts Stadium is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We get the university's approval before any flight on campus. For games and campus events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Downtown and the Pine Belt

Downtown Hattiesburg, the medical district, Petal, the Longleaf Trace and new communities suit brand, recruiting and real estate films, filmed with the owner's approval. Mississippi reserves drone rules to the state, but cities can still set takeoff and landing rules for their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the city's permission.

Camp Shelby and other federal sites

Camp Shelby, south of the city in Forrest County, is a federal no-drone area. For jobs toward Meridian, NAS Meridian and Key Field are federal no-drone areas too. Mississippi law makes it a crime to use a drone to record critical infrastructure, such as refineries, power plants, water plants, ports and rail facilities, or a correctional facility without the owner's prior written consent, so we get that consent or keep those sites out of the shot. Mississippi state parks do not allow aircraft, including drones, on park land or water without written permission from the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks, so we get it before any park shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Airspace

Hattiesburg Bobby L. Chain Municipal, about 4 miles southeast of downtown, and Hattiesburg-Laurel Regional to the north have no control towers. We check every Hattiesburg location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly near M.M. Roberts Stadium on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly near Camp Shelby?

No. Camp Shelby is a federal no-drone area, and we plan routes well clear of it.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Hattiesburg?

It depends on the address. The Hattiesburg airports have no control towers. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Can you fly drones in Mississippi state parks?

Only with written permission from the Department of Wildlife, Fisheries and Parks. We request it before any state park shoot.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
