Gainesville
FPV drone pilot in Gainesville
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Gainesville for lake home and marina films, regattas, motorsport content and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Gainesville, GA drone videography page. Our headquarters is in Augusta, so Georgia shoots are planned by our home crew.
Lake Lanier homes and marinas
On Lanier, the water sells the house. A pass in from over the cove shows the dock, the shoreline and the view from the porch, and marinas and lakeside venues use the same shots. Lake Lanier is a U.S. Army Corps of Engineers project, and the Corps requires authorization for commercial filming and drone use on its land and water, so we apply before the shoot and keep the required distance from boats and docks. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Regattas and Road Atlanta
Lake Lanier Olympic Park, the 1996 Olympic rowing and canoe-kayak venue on Clarks Bridge Road, still hosts regattas and paddling events. In Braselton, at the other end of Hall County, Michelin Raceway Road Atlanta hosts Petit Le Mans each fall, and our FAA waivers include operations over moving vehicles, which suits motorsport and car work. For live event coverage see our Gainesville, GA live event drones page. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Airspace
Lee Gilmer Memorial Airport has no control tower, so most Gainesville addresses don't need LAANC, but we keep clear of its traffic pattern, check every address for restrictions and NOTAMs, and add the Corps authorization for anything on or over the lake.
Georgia drone law
Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three.

FAQs
Do you need permission to fly over Lake Lanier?
For commercial filming, yes. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers requires authorization for drone use on its land and water at Lanier, in addition to FAA rules.
Can you fly FPV at Road Atlanta?
With the track's and the event's approval. Our FAA waivers include operations over moving vehicles, which suits motorsport and car work.
Can you film a ticketed show in Gainesville?
Yes, with the organizer's consent. Georgia law bars drone flights within 400 feet of a gated ticketed event without it, so we get written consent first.
Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?
Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
