Cincinnati

Stadiums and the riverfront

Paycor Stadium, Great American Ball Park and Nippert Stadium are on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Our crew flew five days of live coverage, live to FOX, at the FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta, and live drone feeds for TV and the video board for the Atlanta Braves at Truist Park. For concerts, festivals and games we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens; see live broadcast drones and concert and festival drones.

Federal sites and Ohio law

The 128th Air Control Squadron site in Blue Ash is a federal no-drone area around the clock. Ohio law, in effect since April 2025, makes it a crime to fly in violation of FAA rules, to get in the way of police, firefighters or emergency crews, or to photograph or loiter over a critical facility, such as a power plant, water plant, rail yard, jail, military site or a hospital with an air ambulance, to further a crime. We keep those sites out of the shot unless the owner asks us to film them. Ohio lets cities, counties and park districts set drone rules for their own parks and property, so we check park and event permits before any public-space shoot. We keep neighbors and people on private property out of frame unless they agree to be filmed.

Parks

Ohio state parks prohibit drones without permission from the Division of Parks and Watercraft, except at designated airfields, and ban flights over beaches, crowds, boats and roads, so we ask well ahead of any state park shoot. City and county park districts have their own permit rules, so we check with the park before any public-space shoot. Shoots across the river in Northern Kentucky follow Kentucky rules, including its key infrastructure and privacy laws.

Airspace

Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International, across the Ohio River in Hebron, Kentucky, has Class B airspace over much of the region, and Lunken Airport, about 3 miles east of downtown, has a control tower, so many Cincinnati addresses need LAANC. We check every Cincinnati location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly near Paycor Stadium or Great American Ball Park on game days?

Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events. We schedule nearby shoots outside that window.

Can you fly over the riverfront downtown?

Often, with LAANC for the Class B and Lunken airspace, a legal launch spot and any park or event permit that applies.

Can you fly drones in Ohio state parks?

Only with permission from the Division of Parks and Watercraft or at a designated airfield. Flights over beaches, crowds, boats and roads are banned, so we ask well ahead of any shoot.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Cincinnati?

It depends on the address. The Cincinnati airport has Class B airspace, and Lunken Airport has a control tower. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
