Live event drones in the Outer Banks
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in the Outer Banks. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Outer Banks, NC drone videographer page.
Weddings, tournaments and festivals
Our crew flew drone coverage at Austin City Limits in Zilker Park for the festival's Hulu live broadcast. We fly beach weddings, resorts, events, fishing tournaments and tourism content across Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo. For events and concerts we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
National park land and the beaches
Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Wright Brothers National Memorial and Fort Raleigh National Historic Site are National Park Service land, where launching or landing a drone is prohibited without the superintendent's written approval. Jockey's Ridge State Park in Nags Head does not allow drones without a special use permit from the park. North Carolina state parks need written permission or a special use permit for drone flights. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes.
Dare County airspace and state rules
First Flight Airport and Dare County Regional Airport have no control tower. The Dare County bombing range on the mainland across the sound is restricted military airspace, some of it starting at the surface, so we keep flights well clear of it. We check every Outer Banks location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

FAQs
Can you fly at Cape Hatteras National Seashore?
Not without the superintendent's written approval. Drones may not launch or land on National Park Service land, so we plan beach aerials from other sites.
Can you fly at Jockey's Ridge?
Only with a special use permit from the state park. Without one we film the dunes from outside the park.
Do you need a state permit to fly commercially in North Carolina?
No longer. The state permit law was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
