Live event drones in Norfolk
This page is for event producers, promoters and venues planning a live event in Norfolk. We fly concerts, festivals, parades, arena shows, races and brand activations, with drone feeds sent live to screens, the stream or a broadcast truck, plus fast edits for social. For homes, tourism and general aerials see our Norfolk, VA drone videographer page.
Waterfront festivals and arenas
Our crew flew FPV over Kinetic Field at EDC Orlando in 2022. Norfolk's waterfront festivals suit the same coverage inside the organizer's plan, and inside arenas we fly small drones with the venue's approval. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See Live drone feeds for video boards and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.
Stadiums and Virginia law
Dick Price Stadium at Norfolk State is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Virginia lets localities regulate drone takeoff and landing only on their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the locality's permission.
Naval sites and airspace
Around Norfolk, federal no-drone areas include Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads and Coast Guard Base Portsmouth. Since July 2025, Virginia law makes an unauthorized drone flight over a military base, critical infrastructure, a utility or a federally regulated port facility a felony, so we stay off them unless the operator authorizes the flight. Norfolk International, about 3 miles northeast of downtown, has a control tower and controlled airspace, and Chambers Field at the naval station has its own tower. We check every Norfolk location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Can you fly at Dick Price Stadium on event days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.
Can you fly a waterfront festival near the naval sites?
Yes, inside the organizer's plan, but never over Navy sites, shipyards or marine terminals, which Virginia law protects.
What permits do you need for an event in Norfolk?
It depends on the venue. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job and get the organizer's written approval.
Can you send a live drone feed to screens or a stream?
Yes. We send live drone video to LED screens, the livestream or a broadcast truck, and agree the format and cue points with your production team before show day.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
