The Amp and Adamson Square
Our crew flew five days of live coverage, live to FOX, at the FIFA Fan Festival Atlanta. Downtown Carrollton centers on Adamson Square, and The Amp, the open-air amphitheater just off the square, hosts free concerts and movies through the warmer months. We film event recaps and promos for downtown businesses. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. University of West Georgia events
The UWG campus suits admissions, alumni and athletics content, from a rise over the quad to game-day footage. For games, graduations and campus events we film recaps, and for larger shows we send live drone feeds to the stream or screens. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
The GreenBelt, airspace and Georgia law
The Carrollton GreenBelt, a paved loop of nearly 17 miles, runs through parks, neighborhoods and the UWG campus. West Georgia Regional Airport, about five miles northwest of downtown, has no control tower. Georgia law makes it a misdemeanor to fly within 400 feet of or above a gated, ticketed music, sports or performing arts event without consent from whoever has authority over the event, with an exception for FAA-authorized operators flying lawfully. We get the organizer's consent in writing anyway, because the venue and promoter control launch spots and crowd areas. State law limits how far cities and counties can write their own drone rules, but event permits, venue contracts and property owners still decide where a crew can launch, so we plan around all three. We check every Carrollton location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
