Virginia Beach

FPV drone pilot in Virginia Beach

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Virginia Beach for oceanfront events, resort and hotel fly-throughs, surf and beach content and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Virginia Beach, VA drone videographer page. Our Virginia crew works from our second location; see Lynchburg, VA drone videography.

Oceanfront events and beach content

The Oceanfront, Sandbridge, Chic's Beach and the bayfront suit FPV lines for events, resorts and brands, flown with the organizer's or owner's approval. Beach shoots add their own limits: crowds, launch spots and sea turtle and shorebird nesting closures, so we check local rules and posted signs first. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US.

Resort and hotel fly-throughs

A one-take FPV line from the lobby to the balcony shows a resort the way a guest sees it. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Navy bases and Virginia law

In Virginia Beach, federal no-drone areas include NAS Oceana, Dam Neck Annex and Joint Expeditionary Base Little Creek-Fort Story, and NALF Fentress sits next door in Chesapeake. Since July 2025, Virginia law makes an unauthorized drone flight over a military base, critical infrastructure, a utility or a federally regulated port facility a felony, so we stay off them unless the operator authorizes the flight. First Landing State Park and False Cape State Park follow the state park rule. Virginia state parks ban drones except commercial flights under a special use permit from the park office, so we apply well ahead of any state park shoot. Virginia lets localities regulate drone takeoff and landing only on their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the locality's permission.

Airspace

NAS Oceana has a control tower and military controlled airspace over much of the city, and Norfolk International is close by. We check every Virginia Beach location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

FAQs

Can you fly FPV near NAS Oceana?

No. NAS Oceana is a federal no-drone area, and we plan every Oceanfront and north end shoot around the bases.

Can you fly at First Landing State Park?

Only with a special use permit. Virginia state parks ban drones except commercial flights under a permit from the park office.

Does Virginia law limit where drones can fly?

Yes. Since July 2025 an unauthorized flight over a military base, critical infrastructure, a utility or a regulated port facility is a felony, so we plan around them.

Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?

Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.

What insurance do you carry?

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
