Charlotte
FPV drone pilot in Charlotte
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Charlotte for car and motorsports content, venue fly-throughs, concerts and brand launches. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Charlotte, NC drone videographer page.
Motorsports and car content
FPV is built for chasing cars, but racetracks control their own property. Charlotte Motor Speedway prohibits drones on its property for fans, so any FPV there has to be approved by the track as part of an official production, and NASCAR race days also bring the FAA flight restriction around the venue. For car launches and dealer content, we film on closed courses or private lots with the owner's approval.
Arenas and indoor shows
For concerts and sports at uptown arenas such as Spectrum Center, we fly small drones only with the venue's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours. See Indoor arena FPV drones.
Outdoor backdrops and North Carolina rules
Some popular backdrops do not allow drones at all. The U.S. National Whitewater Center prohibits unmanned aerial devices, so we film elsewhere unless the Center gives written permission. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts.

FAQs
Can you fly FPV at Charlotte Motor Speedway?
Only as part of a production the track approves. The speedway prohibits drones on its property for fans, and race days add an FAA flight restriction around the venue.
Can you chase cars with an FPV drone?
Yes, on closed courses or private property with the owner's approval. We plan speeds, lines and safety distances with the driver and crew first.
Do you need a North Carolina drone permit?
No. The state permit for commercial drone pilots was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is what counts.
Can you fly FPV inside an arena?
Yes, with the venue's approval. We fly small drones on a plan agreed with production, security and lighting.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
