Boone
FPV drone pilot in Boone
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Boone for ski resort and outdoor brand content, lodge and inn fly-throughs, game days and weddings. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Boone, NC drone videographer page.
Ski resorts and outdoor brands
Our crew has flown FPV at Factory Town during Miami Music Week. High Country ski resorts and outdoor brands read best from the air, and we fly resort property with the resort's approval. In the mountains the bigger limits are often terrain and land rules: ridgelines block line of sight and the control signal, so we pick launch points before the shoot. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
App State and game days
Appalachian State bans recreational and unapproved third-party drone flights on campus. Approved flights need a Part 107 pilot and an approval form submitted at least 10 days ahead, and Kidd Brewer Stadium game days can bring the FAA stadium flight restriction. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Boone, NC live event drones.
Boone parks, airspace and state rules
NC state parks require written permission for drones, and the Blue Ridge Parkway bans launching from its land. There is no airport with a control tower near Boone, so most addresses are in uncontrolled airspace, though we still check each one. North Carolina no longer requires a separate state permit for commercial drone pilots, since the state law requiring one was repealed effective December 1, 2024, so FAA Part 107 certification is the credential that counts. We check every Boone location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
