Norfolk
FPV drone pilot in Norfolk
We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Norfolk for hotel and venue fly-throughs, waterfront events, arena content and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Norfolk, VA drone videographer page.
Hotels and venues
Our crew has flown one-take interior fly-throughs of more than 15 Charleston-area hotels for Vive Media. Norfolk hotels, restaurants and event spaces suit the same one-take approach, flown with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.
Waterfront events and game days
Waterfront festivals are flown inside the organizer's plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Dick Price Stadium at Norfolk State is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Norfolk, VA live event drones.
Naval sites and airspace
Around Norfolk, federal no-drone areas include Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Naval Support Activity Hampton Roads and Coast Guard Base Portsmouth. Since July 2025, Virginia law makes an unauthorized drone flight over a military base, critical infrastructure, a utility or a federally regulated port facility a felony, so we stay off them unless the operator authorizes the flight. Norfolk International, about 3 miles northeast of downtown, has a control tower and controlled airspace. We check every Norfolk location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.

FAQs
Can you fly FPV inside a Norfolk hotel?
Yes, with the owner's approval and a route agreed with staff. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules.
Can you fly at Dick Price Stadium on event days?
Not inside the FAA stadium flight restriction, which covers 3 nautical miles from an hour before to an hour after covered events, unless we are part of the approved production.
Can you fly FPV over the harbor?
Not over Navy sites, shipyards or marine terminals, which Virginia law protects unless the operator authorizes the flight.
Can FPV footage go live to a stream or screens?
Yes. We send live FPV video to the stream, LED screens or a broadcast truck, and agree the format with your production team before the event.
What insurance do you carry?
Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
