We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Lynchburg for campus and athletics films, downtown fly-throughs, events and brand content. Campus and athletics

College campuses here suit FPV for admissions, athletics and event films, flown with each school's approval and planned around game days and crowds. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. Downtown and the James River

Downtown hotels, restaurants and venues along the James River suit one-take FPV fly-throughs flown with the owner's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Airspace

Lynchburg Regional Airport, about 5 miles southwest of the city, has a control tower, and its Class D airspace is in effect while the tower is open, so many addresses need LAANC. We check every Lynchburg location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it.

Virginia law

Since July 2025, Virginia law makes an unauthorized drone flight over a military base, critical infrastructure, a utility or a federally regulated port facility a felony, so we stay off them unless the operator authorizes the flight. Virginia state parks ban drones except commercial flights under a special use permit from the park office, so we apply well ahead of any state park shoot. Virginia lets localities regulate drone takeoff and landing only on their own property, so we launch from private property with the owner's approval or get the locality's permission.

Do you need FAA approval to fly in Lynchburg?

It depends on the address. Lynchburg Regional Airport has a control tower and Class D airspace while the tower is open. We check every location on the FAA sectional and B4UFLY before quoting and file LAANC where it is needed.

Our standard policy is $10M liability, with optional coverage up to $25M when a venue, league or network requires it. Certificates naming your venue or production are issued before the shoot.
