Syracuse, NY FPV Drone Pilot and Operator

FPV drone pilot in Syracuse

We fly FPV and small cinewhoop drones in Syracuse for dome and campus content, festival FPV, venue tours and brand films. FPV adds close, fast, continuous moves that a standard camera drone cannot get, flown by pilots who rehearse each line first. For general aerials, homes and events see our Syracuse, NY drone videographer page.

Festivals and the fair

Our crew flew a one-take micro-drone fly-through of the Camp EDC campground in 2024. Syracuse festivals suit the same one-take FPV inside the organizer's plan. Flying directly over an open crowd is only allowed when the drone and the operation meet FAA rules for flying over people, so otherwise we keep flight paths over the stage, closed areas and open lanes. The New York State Fairgrounds ban drones without the Fair's approval, and commercial pilots need a Fair UAS operations permit requested at least five business days ahead. See FPV drones for live broadcast, Indoor arena FPV drones and Concert and festival FPV drones across the US. For event coverage see Syracuse, NY live event drones.

The dome and campus

The JMA Wireless Dome is on the FAA stadium list, so the 3 nautical mile flight restriction applies from an hour before to an hour after covered events. Indoor work inside the dome needs the university's approval. Fully enclosed indoor flights are generally outside FAA airspace rules, so we fly one-take fly-throughs with the owner's approval; see indoor fly-through tours.

Airport and military sites

Syracuse Hancock International sits under Class C airspace, and downtown is inside its surface area. Hancock Field Air National Guard Base at the airport is a federal no-drone area, closed from the ground to 400 feet around the clock. New York State Parks require a prior written permit to launch, land or fly a drone on park property, and commercial filming goes through the State Parks film permit process. We check every Syracuse location on the FAA sectional, B4UFLY and NOTAMs before quoting, and file LAANC or FAA authorization for any address that needs it. We confirm local permits, venue rules and airspace authorizations before every job.
